List of Resident Services
CREATE, Inc. is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to coordinate services for seniors 55 and older that live in affordable housing in St. Louis, St. Louis County, and Southern Illinois. As a service coordinator, CREATE, Inc. hopes to be a resource for information on various services provided by area agencies. These services may include but are not limited to, non-emergency medical transportation, healthcare services, nutritious meals, and social activities.

Before receiving many of the following services from CREATE, Inc., residents must register with the organization. Registration is a confidential process which should take no more than thirty minutes and will only be conducted when an appointment is scheduled.

Non-emergency medical transportation
If a resident/client requires assistance with transportation to a doctor’s appointment, physical therapy, dialysis or other non-emergency medical need, CREATE can assist in arranging this service. The resident must contact the office at least 72 hours before the appointment. CREATE, Inc. owns a van that is utilized to provide these transportation services.

General Transportation
Transportation will be arranged to and from the grocery store and other markets around St. Louis and St. Louis County. Any resident/client interested in going on any of these scheduled trips will need to sign up for the event. This is done through a sign up sheet that CREATE, Inc. will distribute for residents/clients to know what trips are occurring, and when. It is the responsibility of the resident/client to be at the appropriate point of departure at the scheduled time and also to board the shuttle at the scheduled time. CREATE’s driver and vehicle are appropriately insured.

Meals
Currently, Meals – On – Wheels is the provider of daily meals for CREATE, Inc. clients. Any resident/client interested in arranging this service through CREATE, Inc. may be eligible to receive meals at no cost or a reduced cost. Additionally, CREATE, Inc. has partnered with a local church that has a food pantry. Through this partnership, residents/clients can receive emergency food that will feed a family of two for approximately one week. A confidential form used to verify income levels will need to be filled out in order to receive this service.

Medical Services
Community health organizations, such as CHIPS (Community Health in Partnership Services) and Grace Hill Settlement, as well as doctors practicing general medicine, provide on-site nurse and social worker services at least once a week. Services provided through CREATE, Inc. are always free to residents/clients. Additional services are provided by social work interns and nursing interns from various area universities on a weekly basis, as well. Chiropractors and Podiatrists also will periodically provide free examinations and check-ups on-site. These services will also be free to residents/clients. We have regularly updated schedules posted around the premises for residents to be aware of when each doctor will visit.

Continuing Education, Exercise, and Arts and Crafts
Periodically, CREATE, Inc will sponsor various learning and/or physical fitness activities through area colleges and universities. For example, partnerships have been formed with Lincoln University and St Louis Community College in order to provide residents with computer and job training courses, as well as art classes. Additionally, physical fitness instructors will lead Tai Ji/Tai Chi classes and group walking programs beginning in the spring.

Trips
CREATE sponsors weekly trips to various places of interest around Saint Louis. These trips occur throughout the week. In most cases, these excursions are offered at no cost or a reduced cost to residents/clients. Any resident interested in participating in these scheduled excursions must notify CREATE prior to the activity by signing the particular sign-up sheet for an event. Residents/clients are required to sign paperwork that indemnifies CREATE while they are on any CREATE, Inc. sponsored trip. Previous weekly trips have been to a local bowling alley, a local mall, a local casino, and local cultural museums.

Seminars and Informative Meetings
Occasionally, CREATE will sponsor/host a meeting or informative seminar conducted by a professional in a specific field. These seminars, which address essential issues relevant to senior living, are free as well.
